NMB Hands Over TSh 21.6 Million in Donations to Schools in Malinyi

Through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programme, NMB Bank has donated 100 desks, 100 chairs, and 100 tables to two primary schools and one secondary school in Malinyi District, Morogoro Region. The total value of the donation is TSh 21.6 million.

The contribution forms part of the TSh 7.4 billion the bank has set aside for community projects in the education, health, and environment sectors in 2026. This amount represents one percent of the bank’s Profit After Tax for the financial year ended December 31, 2025.

NMB Bank’s Central Zone Manager, Ms. Janeth Shango, officially handed over the items to the Malinyi District Commissioner, Hon. Sebastian Waryuba, who received them on behalf of the headteachers of Madibila Chini Primary School, Salamiti Primary School, and Kilosa Mpepo Secondary School.

Speaking during the handover ceremony held at Kilosa Mpepo Secondary School, Ms. Shango said Madibila Chini Primary School received 50 desks, while Salamiti Primary School also received 50 desks. Kilosa Mpepo Secondary School was provided with 100 chairs and 100 tables for students.

She noted that the support demonstrates the bank’s commitment to social development and its dedication to reinvesting part of its profits back into the community. Through similar initiatives, NMB Bank has contributed significantly to improvements in the education sector and has received international recognition, including being named Best Bank in Corporate Social Responsibility by Global Banking Magazine (USA).

District Commissioner Waryuba expressed his gratitude to NMB Bank for the TSh 21.6 million contribution, noting that a quick estimate shows the desks, chairs, and tables will benefit nearly 500 pupils who had previously been studying while seated on the floor.

He added that NMB has set a strong example in supporting education development in Malinyi and urged other stakeholders to follow suit by voluntarily contributing to community initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of properly maintaining the donated items to encourage continued support from donors in the future.
